Michael Horsford is a performer and music educator in the Denver area. Michael joined the Colorado Brass in 2018 and he serves as the Vice President and solo E-flat bass player. He has performed with the Denver area groups like Colorado Symphony, Denver Philharmonic, Jefferson Symphony, and Denver Brass.
He has advanced to the semi-final round in both the Leonard Falcone International Tuba Euphonium Artist solo competition and the International Tuba Euphonium Solo Competition. In 2013, Michael was a finalist in the Lamont School of Music Chamber Music competition at the University of Denver. As an educator, Michael is a teacher in the Aurora public school system. He teaches general and instrumental music at a kindergarten through eighth grade school to a diverse group of students. He also maintains a small private studio. Michael earned masters and bachelor degrees from the Ithaca College School of Music in Ithaca, NY and has additional performance studies at the University of Denver Lamont School of Music. His primary teachers include Aaron Tindall, Warren Deck, Kathy Brantigan, and Dave Unland. In his free time, Michael enjoys exploring Colorado with family. |
